PROCESS: The primary focus of this semester was how to effectively program a 500,000 sq. ft. convention center. Public & service areas in our floor plan never cross. Another aspect influencing the design was the Core to Shore Plan, the master plan of OKC. A key part of the plan is a pedestrian spine that cuts right through our convention center site. We addressed this by designing a pedestrian skywalk supported by a wall truss system. This pedestrian skywalk connects Myriad Gardens to the proposed central park area. At each end of the skywalk are large picture windows, which give views to Devon Tower, in the North, and the Sky Dance Bridge, in the South, both of which are great sources of pride for native Oklahomans.
