Defining Success in the Workplace
February 15, 2015
This past week I researched success in the workplace looking into the different ways we define success. Is success merely measured by the financial gain of a company? Or is it measured by the happiness and productivity of the company's employees?
After reading many articles from Cornell University's Institute for Workplace Studies, Steelcase, the Harvard Business Review, Knoll, Herman Miller, and FastCompany I began to compile a list of "Key Words for Success". I then went through and tried to connect the different ideals about success to see where that could lead me.
This investigation left me completely convinced that the future of success in the workplace revolves around creating an authentic work environment that is can mold to fit the individuals that work within it. Owners are aware of the benefits to creating authentic culture with the intent of not only attracting top talent, but adding value to them, and providing an environment that makes them want to stay.
“Success is having a culture where opposite types can thrive and work collaboratively.”
